The small green control modules, called frogs, are the heart of every frogblue system and form the basis of the Bluetooth®-based smart building solution from frogblue. Frogs can switch, dim, measure, open doors or react to buttons, switches and window contacts.

Connected to the mains or battery-powered, they are linked together with “virtual cables” via the frogblue Bluetooth® mesh network. They forward messages and thus extend the range. Data transfer between the frogs is always encrypted (128 bit), and this in addition to Bluetooth®. frogs are smart, packed with innovative functions, are very easy to configure and do not require a central unit or control cabinet. With a power consumption of just 0.2 watts, they are also extraordinarily energy-conscious.

Installed in a deep flush-mounted back box (recommended socket depth: 63 mm) behind any conventional switch/button, junction box, weatherproof outdoor socket or lamp outlet, this multifunctional 1-channel dimmer actuator can be used to switch and dim all approved trailing-edge dimmer lighting. Leading edge control is approved only for inductive loads.

For example, this and other frogs can be used to quickly and easily implement an multi-way switching system. No cable laying, no central unit and no control components in the sub-distribution board are necessary. The living room, dining room and kitchen lights can be controlled with just three frogblue units (frogDim1-3) installed behind the light switches, because three light switches can be connected to each of the 300 W dimmer actuators. Additional centralised, building-wide functions or lighting scenarios can also be assigned to the light switches by using different clicking patterns (e.g. double click).

A double click could be configured for all or selected light switches to switch on the lights in all three rooms at once. By pressing and holding the button, the brightness can be dimmed to any value individually or synchronously. You can freely configure whether or how the light is dimmed. And this can be different at night than during the day. Additional functions, such as building-wide central on/off or cross-room lighting scenarios, can be defined with the frogblue ProjectApp.

The frogs can be controlled with the frogblue HomeApp via smartphone or tablet (iOS and Android), frogDisplay, frogKey or simply via the conventional switch/button connected to a frog. We always recommend buttons, as the full range of functions can be used with individual and different touch patterns, such as double or triple clicks, etc.
